Full-Time Paraprofessional Position

Kelliher Public School is seeking an energetic, patient individual to work with our students and staff. The ideal candidate will be flexible, open-minded, and committed to working positively with students of varying abilities and behaviors.

 

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Two-year degree from an accredited institution, OR

  • Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment

 

Position Details

Start Date: January 5, 2026

Duration: Remainder of 2025-2026 school year

Status: Full-time, 9 months per year

 

Role Description

The paraprofessional assists students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical, and behavioral goals. This position supports classroom teachers and professional staff by working with individual students or small groups who have special needs.

 

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $24.15 - $29.40 per hour (based on experience and credentials)

Health Insurance: Single plan fully covered plus HSA contributions, OR $1,200/month toward family plan

Retirement Benefits:

  • $1,200 annual employer contribution to 403(b) plan

  • Enrollment in PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) pension

Paid Holidays: 7 days per year

PTO Accrual: 1 hour for every 20 hours worked

American Indian Education Liaison

Kelliher Public School (ISD 36) seeks a dedicated individual to serve as American Indian Education Liaison. This position advances the academic achievement and cultural development of American Indian students by fostering understanding, advocacy, and collaboration among students, families, schools, and communities.

 

Position: Half-time (20 hours per week) | Reports to Principal/Dean of Students

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advocate for American Indian students to ensure equitable access to educational resources and opportunities

  • Monitor academic progress, attendance, and engagement; provide interventions when needed

  • Encourage student participation in cultural, extracurricular, and leadership activities

  • Assist students in navigating pathways for higher education, scholarships, and career readiness

  • Attend American Indian student Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings

  • Schedule and attend tribal college visits

  • Serve as primary point of contact for American Indian families within the school district

  • Foster positive relationships between families and school staff

  • Organize and facilitate parent advisory meetings, tribal consultations, workshops, and cultural events

  • Collaborate with tribal leaders, organizations, and community stakeholders

  • Promote integration of American Indian history, culture, and values into curriculum and school programs

  • Provide professional development and training to staff on cultural competency

  • Coordinate observances and events recognizing American Indian heritage and contributions

  • Assist with program development, grant writing, and compliance with Title VI, JOM, and Impact Aid

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, Native American studies, or related field

Required:

  • Experience working with American Indian communities or in educational settings

  • Familiarity with tribal governance, traditions, and cultural practices

  • Strong understanding of challenges and opportunities facing American Indian students and families

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS (Half-Time Position)

Salary: $24.15 - $34.34/hour (based on experience and credentials)

Health Insurance: $425/month towards a single plan, OR $600/month toward family plan (prorated)

Retirement: $600 annual employer 403(b) contribution (prorated) plus PERA pension enrollment

Time Off: Paid holidays and PTO prorated for half-time status (1 hour PTO per 20 hours worked)

Sub. teacher: $175.00/day
Sub. para/cook/custodian: $19.50/hr.
Sub. bus driver: $32.34/hr.
Sub. childcare aide: $15.00/hr.
Sub. childcare teacher: $18.00/hr.
