GENERAL INTEREST

LEARN TO DANCE – WEDDING DANCE SAMPLER

Hondo & Suzy Langhout

Have fun while learning the patterns, partnering, lead and follow, musicality and history of various dances.  In this class, you will learn dances appropriate for a wedding such as the waltz, rhumba, jitterbug and two-step.  We need a minimum of 10 people this one session class.  If you are interested, please call or email Peggy Vollhaber.  When we have 10 people, we will set the class date.

BONE BUILDERS

Join us for a free program of low impact aerobics. All ages welcome but it is geared towards senior citizens.  Weights are provided.  This program focuses on building bone density and works on stability.

AEROBICS WITH LUCIA

Lucia Leach

Regular aerobics exercise keeps you fit and healthy and helps your body work effectively.  Join Lucia twice a week with fat burning exercises, zumba aerobics and even some kick boxing!

CONCEAL & CARRY PERMIT CLASS

To legally carry a concealed handgun in Minnesota, you must complete a Conceal and Carry course.  Kelliher Community Education is offering this class on Saturday, February 23rd.  You must bring to class warm clothes and either 30 rounds of ammo with your pistol or 30 rounds of 9MM ammo to use instructor's gun.  Portion of class will take place outside.  You must be registered for this class by February 11th.  If you expressed interest from the Fall brochure, please call again so we know this date works for you.

TRAPPING EDUCATION

Greg Vollhaber

Persons born after December 31,1989, who have not been issued a trapping license in a previous license year, may not obtain a trapping license without a trapper education certificate.  If you interested in taking this class, please contact Peggy Vollhaber by February 10th and if there are at least five students, a class will be held in late February.  This is a great parent/child opportunity. 

 

KELLIHER WEIGHT LOSS CLUB

If you are interested in keeping your weight loss resolution but don’t want to do it alone, join us to exchange weight loss tips, recipes and support.  Please call 647-8806 for more information.

                                                        SCRAPBOOKING/PHOTO ORGANIZING

Karyn Lutz

Take the time to work on your photo organizing and memory albums.  Join us in the Kelliher School Media Center.  Karyn’s tools are available for your use free of charge.  She also has supplies for purchase as you need.  Whether you are in the middle of a project or want to start a new one, you need to set aside time to get busy.  These workshops help you do just that.  Call Karyn at 647-2222 for dates and times.

The Kelliher High School Gym will be open every Sunday afternoon starting on Sunday, November 4th. From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Elementary students must be accompanied by an adult family member.  Must sign in.  If no one has shown up by 3:30, the gym will be closed.

YOUTH

 

AFTER SCHOOL 4H    

4-H After school provides great opportunities for all elementary youth.  Afterschool sessions offer: fun, hands-on learning experiences; new friendships and community connections; and opportunities to develop new skills and interests.  A separate registration form will be sent home with your elementary student.

FROSTY’S FRIENDS!

Winter is here and it’s time to have some fun in the “snow”!  We will make edible snow, play some snowy games and make snowmen crafts!  This class is open to grades K-5.

FUN IN THE SUN!

In this after school class, we will pretend winter is over and we’re at the beach!  We will eat some summery snacks, play some beachy games AND make a craft.  This class is open to grades K-5.

EASTER’S ON IT’S WAY!

Join us in this class for a hoppin’ good time!  Be prepared to eat some bunny food, make an Easter craft AND play some fun games!  This class is open to grades K-5.

Driver’s Education

If you are age 14 or older, you may enroll in the Kelliher Community Education Driver’s Education class.  This class is 30 hours total and you must attend  all classes.  Classes will start in March. Class time will be from 3:15 to 6:15 p.m. in the Kelliher School Media Center Classroom.  A separate registration will be sent home with students who are at least 14 years of age.  For more information, call Peggy Vollhaber.                                                     

 

 

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD FAMILY EDUCATION

Play, learn and grow with your child!  Parents care that their children are developing as expected for their age.  Join in our parent and child activities and learn more about your child and what you can do every day to help your child learn and grow.  The Kelliher ECFE program invites families with children ages Birth to Pre-Kindergarten to attend classes from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays in the Early Childhood classroom.  For more information, call Diane Mostad at 647-8728,  email mostad@paulbunyan.net; or Renee Pollard at 647-8286, ext. 1120, email rpollard@kelliher.k12.mn.us.

Parents of young children 0 to preschool can also sign up for the “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program at the Kelliher Library and Information Center. Get a “free” book when you sign up and a free book and other prizes for every 100 books you read to your child. 

Watch the Kelliher School website for the upcoming “Family Fitness” program for parents and children 0-8 years old in the Old School Center gym.

TUBING AT BUENA VISTA

Join us for an afternoon of tubing at Buena Vista Ski Area.  Bus will leave Kelliher School at 1 p.m. and we will return at approximately 5:30 p.m.  This trip is open to all ages but students under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older.  We must have a minimum of 10 people for this trip.  If you would like to chaperone, chaperones tube free!  Please call Peggy Vollhaber for more information.  Must be registered by February 8th.  Trip includes tubing and transportation.

Fee:  $17 (includes tubing and transportation)

 

LET’S GO BOWLING!

Join us for an afternoon of bowling at Bemidji Bowl for some Glow and Bowl!  Bus will leave Kelliher School at 1:00 p.m. and return at approximately 5:00  p.m.  This trip is open to all ages but students under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older.  We must have a minimum of 12 people for this trip.  If you would like to chaperone, chaperones bowl free!  Please call Peggy Vollhaber for more information.  Must be registered by February 15th. Trip includes bowling, shoes, and transportation.

LYNNE ANDERSON AT MILES REIF CENTER

Lynne Anderson is truly a trailblazer in the world of country music.  Her single hit, Rose Garden, topped the country charts for five weeks straight.  She has been honored with many awards such as a Grammy, CMA, Billboard award and many more.  Join us for an evening of great country entertainment!  We need 20 people for this trip so please register early so tickets can be purchased.  Fee includes transportation and ticket.  You must register by March 1st

Saturday, April 6th   Bus will leave Kelliher School at 5:30 p.m. returning at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Come and “check out” the new Kelliher Library and Information Center. See what’s new!  There are many new books, computers and much more!  KLIC is open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

MEALS ON WHEELS

Homemade food delivered to your home or eat at Cornerstone Residence.  Monday through Friday. Meals may also be arranged on weekends.  Contact Rosa at 647-8258 for more information.

KELLIHER FITNESS CENTER

Come and see what everyone’s talking about.  We offer a fitness center with top of the line exercise equipment so close to home.  Monthly membership fees, yearly fees, family and friend discounts – there are many options.  For more information, contact Kelliher City Hall at 647-8470.

CHOICE THERAPY

Choice Therapy in Bemidji has opened a branch of their clinic at the Old School Center in Kelliher.  For dates and hours the clinic is open, please call 647-9569.

KELLIHER CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC

The Old School Center now has chiropractic services.  Bemidji Sport and Spinal

Rehab has opened a clinic in Kelliher.  Office hours are Mondays from 9 to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 to 5 p.m. Please call 647-8586 for an appointment.

KELLIHER THRIFT & GIFT SHOP

Come in and check out the Kelliher Thrift and Gift, which is a nonprofit business located in the Old School Center.  Donations are accepted during store hours.  It’s time to do that fall cleaning and purging!  One man’s junk is another man’s treasure!  Gift shop hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 5 and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

KELLIHER VFW PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Come and support your local VFW by joining them for breakfast on the second Sunday of each month.  Breakfast is held at the Kelliher Community Center from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.  Price is $5 per person with special rates for children and senior citizens.  Proceeds go to a scholarship fund for students.  The next pancake breakfast will be held Sunday, February 10th.

Pre-registration is required for all activities.  Registration fees to be mailed with registration form.  Please do not mail cash.  Registrations must be paid in full BEFORE the first class.

Registrations may also be turned into the school office.

Make checks payable to Kelliher Community Education or you can now make payments for Community Education classes on the school’s website by clicking on the PaySchools icon.

A full refund will be given if the class is cancelled.  There will be NO refunds after the first class meeting or if cancellation is made the day of the class.

Note to parents:  You are responsible for picking up your child immediately after the class is finished.  Students are not allowed to loiter in the school during these times.  Elementary parents:  Please send a note for the teacher if your child is going to attend a class after school and will not be riding the bus that day.

My class was cancelled!  Please register EARLY to avoid disappointment for yourself and others! There are times when Community Education has to cancel classes because people wait until the last minute to register and then it’s too late…Don’t miss out on these great class or event opportunities! Register early!
